purpose

Our mission is to build a sustainable and comprehensive medical device ecosystem in Alberta that accelerates each stage in the innovation lifecycle - from prototyping and validation to commercialization and adoption. By supporting both local SMEs (small to medium enterprises) and MNEs (multinational enterprises), we aim to fuel economic diversity while bringing cutting-edge technologies to patients and health partners, ultimately transforming healthcare for Albertans.

Upcoming Plans

  • Create Strategic Opportunities for Innovators

By creating an asset map that consolidates the unique medical device assets and resources in Alberta alongside the technical needs of our stakeholders, we help innovators and investors precisely identify where new opportunities lie.

  • Launch Two Medical Technology Hubs
To better serve both Northern and Southern Alberta, we’re establishing dedicated hubs for medical technology assessment. These hubs will provide expert support, collaboration spaces, and access to essential tools for testing and refinement.

  • Facilitate Foreign Investment and Growth
Through strategic partnerships and networking, we’ll attract foreign direct investment, help launch spin-outs, streamline regulatory filings, guide fundraising, and accelerate TRL (Technology Readiness Level) progression.

By connecting industry, academia, government, and venture partners, we aim to make Alberta a global leader in medical device innovation—improving patient outcomes worldwide while driving economic growth here at home.
