success story
A-MEDICO @ Inventures 2025
At the 2025 INVENTURES conference, attendees interacted and explored A-MEDICO technologies from partner institutions.
A-MEDICO Exhibit Activities & Technologies:
Electrotactile Bandages
This demo demonstrated how patterned electrodes on foam can generate localized, perceivable electrical sensations—showcasing potential applications in wearable haptics, interactive technologies, and therapeutic bandages. Users interacted with flexible foam patches embedded with printed conductive inks that deliver electrotactile feedback. These smart bandages utilize targeted electrical stimulation to enhance tissue regeneration, potentially accelerating recovery for patients with chronic wounds or injuries.

pH and Temperature Indicating Hydrogel Patches
Participants interacted with two hydrogel/organogel samples during the demonstration. The transparent hydrogel, featuring colorimetric sensitivity to pH and temperature, serves as an ideal platform for indicating inflammation and healing status in both chronic and acute wounds—while also providing moisture and protective coverage.

BackSCNR
Participants discovered BackSCNR, an innovative iPad app that captures a 3D surface scan of a person’s torso to screen for and predict the severity of scoliosis. It offers a radiation-free alternative to repeated X-rays by using 3D scanning to monitor scanning to monitor scoliosis.

Center for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS) at NAIT
Individuals learned about the health innovation services offered by CAMS at NAIT, as well as the facility’s role in supporting projects through A-MEDICO’s Activation Program 2. CAMS contributes expertise and infrastructure to advance translation pathways for health-related innovations.
