On the 27th of November 2025, A-MEDICO hosted Translating Innovation: A-MEDICO Meets Alberta MedTech Industry at Red Deer Polytechnic.

This event brought the Alberta medical device community together — connecting stakeholders across the provincial MedTech ecosystem.

The morning session featured opening remarks from Neil Sulakhe (Government of Alberta, Ministry of Innovation and Technology) and Dr. Markian Bahniuk (Alberta Innovates) highlighting the value of collaborations and partnerships in the development of Alberta MedTech ecosystem. In addition, 10 pitch-style presentations presented by A-MEDICO researchers showcased cutting-edge research and translational progress.

The afternoon session opened with an inspiring keynote address by Dr. John Wong, (Fluid Biomed) discussing the journey, challenges, and opportunities associated with commercializing medical technologies. Attendees also engaged in a curated networking session expanding their knowledge and exploring topics that include fundraising, manufacturing, intellectual property, regulatory, and commercialization.

The event fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among MedTech innovators, founders, researchers, and industry leaders, while showcasing groundbreaking medical device projects advancing healthcare innovation in Alberta. This event created an energetic, collaborative environment that encouraged new partnerships, meaningful discussions, and cross-sector engagement. Attendees experienced a highly engaging forum that highlighted both the strength of Alberta’s MedTech ecosystem and the shared commitment to translating innovation into real-world impact.
