The Alberta Medical Device Innovation Consortium (A-MEDICO) is a pan-Alberta network of researchers, industry partners, and community members working to address the identified need for tailored healthcare technology solutions and interventions poised to reorganize, reinvigorate, and redefine Alberta’s medical device sector. A-MEDICO is funded by the Major Innovation Fund (MIF) which is an outcomes-focused program that supports research and innovation investments of strategic and commercial interest as part of the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy (ATIS). This is lead by the Technology and Innovation ministry.

A-MEDICO is comprised of 30 researchers across Alberta including Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Red Deer that are motivated to improving the health of Albertans, Canadians, and the world at large. There are incredible opportunities to partner with our research teams to engage with end users and commercialize medical devices. Establishing Alberta as a leader in training talent to develop innovative medical devices for improved health, quality of life, and disease management.

Building a sustainable, comprehensive medical device ecosystem in Alberta to accelerate innovation, commercialization, and translation of new technologies.
Community Engagement
Developing a strong network to drive inclusive, end-user-centered medical device solutions through community engagement and collaboration.
